"Know from whence you came. If you know whence you came, there are absolutely no limitations to where you can go.” - James Baldwin

Some of you are thinking, what is Geechee? Quick history lesson-  The Gullah/Geechee people are descendants of enslaved Africans who reside in the states and believe it or not, much of the culture from the distinct language to customs still lives in 2018 along the coastlines of South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. (PSA Gullah Geechee is not dead)

So why the name NEW Geechee? Well, James Baldwin (see quote above) said it best! Our roots and upbringing shape us into who we are, but we are able to enhance and create the lives we truly desire through NEW opportunities!  As a black millennial, or as we affectionately call ourselves young melanated professionals (YMP), we are able to truly recreate the narrative and be the change we wish to see. We are only able to because of our strong descent that makes that possible. Here at New Geechee, we will not only share but celebrate the stories of our young melanated professional life to encourage one another to live our BEST lives.

Leave everything better than you found it.
